Abbeyleix, Co. Laois

It's Saturday and so time for a Sacred Heart.  Today's comes from the Church of the Most Holy Rosary in the pretty estate town of Abbeyleix.

If you ever find yourself in Abbeyleix, we particularly recommend Morrissey's pub - a proper grocers-cum-pub with a warren of snugs.  The staff wear white coats. What more do you need to know?

Gray Street, The Liberties, Dublin 8

It's Saturday and time to give Mary a well-earned break.  Today we have a statue of the Sacred Heart protected by a lovely wrought iron canopy just off Meath Street in the heart of Dublin's Liberties.

Avondale House, Cumberland Street, Dublin 1

Sometimes, you go looking for a Marian Shrine and you find a statue of the Sacred Heart. Sometimes, you find Saint Joseph. Saturdays are for these statues and shrines.

Saint Joseph carrying the baby Jesus, and one of his attributes, lilies.

I would like very much to take a brush to that peeling paintwork.

O'Rahilly House, Ringsend, Sacred Heart Shrine

Sometimes you go looking for a Marian Shrine and find a statue of the Sacred Heart.

I think this replaced an earlier Marian Shrine.

The Good Shepherd.
