N69, Mungret, Co. Limerick

The statue is very similar, but not identical to the one at Patrickswell.

The photos really don't do justice to how this closes the vista on the road. We must put a camera on the bonnet of the car and drive by.

Mary Immaculate College, South Circular Road, Limerick

From Mary I to marianireland, here's Thomas Aquinas.

The text on the plaque reads (in Irish, latin, and english)
Just as it is better to illuminate than
merely to shine, so it is better to deliver
to others contemplated truths than
merely to contemplate.

That explains the smiley face then.

Upper William Street, Limerick.

You may have noticed, dear reader, Limerick is rich in marian shrines and statues. It turns out there's a shop.

Marian Avenue, Limerick

Opposite Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, this statue from the first Marian Year is the only one of its kind we've seen.

No flutter in these draperies.

South Circular Road, Limerick

It says Saint Philomena's School, (well, it says St. Philomena's Sch., but I'm making assumptions) but that's clearly herself there in the alcove.

We hesitate to suggest a lick of paint, for fear of the Maynooth treatment.

Saint Brigid's Well, Shanagarry, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick

It's Saturday, so we're going off message, this time with Saint Brigid rather than a Sacred Heart Statue.

Look! She's holding her church.

The ringfort to the south of the well.
